Two Chinese [yellows] workers killed, one injured in S. Korea bridge collapse
07-30-2013 17:05 BJT

Two Chinese workers have been killed and another injured when a part of a bridge they were working on in South Korea collapsed on them.

The bridge, called the Banghwa Bridge, spans the Han river west of South Korea’s capital Seoul. A 47-meter-long steel structure along with heavy construction equipment fell from the entrance ramp of the bridge onto the workers below. There were a total of four Chinese workers at the site.

As the structure was collapsing, one of them managed to escape unharmed. Local police is now investigating the exact cause of the accident. The construction of the entrance ramp which cost over 98 million US dollars began in 2005 and is expected to be completed in June next year.
